I was so embarressed

I can still remember how I felt. So completely out of my depth, and embarrassed. Embarrassed to the point of being overwhelmed. Embarrassed that I wasn’t cool enough, smart enough, television enough. Feeling like the odd one out.

Are you resisting winter

Are you resisting winter

Winter is the time of Bear Medicine. A time to withdraw and rest. A time to shed whatever it is that we’ve outgrown and allow it to be composted. A time to turn inwards and connect to our inner stores of wisdom and creativity. A time to allow our connection to our essence to be replenished. And a time to make peace with the dark, in ourselves and in the world.

The Spiritual Path is not easy. So why do it? Because in those moments when you choose to soften, let go, and simultaneously expand, you meet yourself in a whole new way. You come home.

The Day i saw my soul

As a result of an incident in my childhood I believed that a piece of my Soul had been stolen. But as I gazed at this beautiful golden energy I was given a very clear message.

are you stuck between versions of yourself?

A little over a year ago during my meditation, my inner wise woman showed up with a very clear message.  “Stop dying your hair.” I first dyed my hair over 30 years ago.  It started with a few highlights and then my colour and haircut became a way of expressing myself.

What’s your unexpected joy?

Back in the dark wet days of winter, Vince and I put together the seed order for our garden.  We had agreed that for the first year of our new garden we’d ‘grow what we eat’.  Which might seem like a ridiculously simple plan of action but if you’ve ever flicked through the pages of a seed catalogue you’ll know how enticing everything is.  Much to my annoyance Vince insisted on getting a packet of cucamelon seeds.

The courage to be yourself

Summer is in full swing. The days are hot and sunny, the evenings are balmy and there’s a lovely buzz in the village as people arrive home from abroad or other parts of Italy to spend summer with their families.

We’ve been going to our garden early in the morning while it’s still cool, to plant veg and water.  Our garden is 1.5km from the village and is surrounded by lots of other gardens.  So there’s always someone coming or going who stops for a chat or to give ‘advice’.

listen to the voice of your soul

It’s over a decade since I closed the front door of my house and walked out into the unknown, leaving my life and my husband & partner of 15 years behind me.

I had no clue what was in front of me or how I was going to manage on my own but I knew I had to leave. I look back at that version of me now and wonder where did she get the courage to walk out that door from?

It’s Safe to expand

This time of year is such a wonderful reminder that it’s in our nature to expand and yet we often have an inverse relationship to expansion.

I was a child when I learned that physical expansion was not a good thing and that you’d be judged for being ‘too big’. This manifested in years of ‘yo yo’ dieting, where I’d gain weight (expand), then loose weight (contract). A constant battle between those feelings of being in and out of control.

what’s your bigger dream?

Whenever we got a new puppy my dad would always tell us to look at its paws. My dad maintains that the paws give you an indication of what size the dog will be. Puppies he said, “grow into their paws”. And that’s why you need a big dream, so that there’s space for you to grow into.

There are 2 main reasons why we don’t dream big.
